A Love Letter Manuscript

Watercolour & Gouache
This piece is inspired by medieval herbal manuscripts, earthstars and spring beginnings. It is an offering to the reliability of seasons, fungal and floral kin.

Manuscript page reads:
"As dusk falls, the green things follow me with their long fingers, moving quickly through the carpets of snowdrops. I love your smell oozing from the squishy hardwood. Its rot woven by maggot, beetle and hyphae. I have no thought here.
With you I am algae stained rock. With you I am that force with which a mushroom pushes through soil. Earth stars open with moisture and in that way we are similar. So it is that the words GEO meaning earth, and ASTRUM meaning star, make up the name of this fungus amongst the milk flowers."
